MEET THE
DIRECTOR

Gary Bottomley is in his twenty-seventh year of teaching and his twenty-fourth year of teaching in Seminole County. Prior to coming to Teague, Mr. Bottomley held the director of bands position at Milwee Middle School for fifteen years and before that he was the director of bands at Winter Park Junior High School and Mary Persons High School.
A product of Florida’s public school system, Mr. Bottomley was awarded the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Florida State University and Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. He has earned a reputation statewide for excellence in teaching. Bands under his direction have consistently earned superior ratings at district concert and jazz festivals.
A proud father to daughter Lisa, currently attending college and son Alex who is now a sophomore in high school, Mr. Bottomley’s professional affiliations include Florida Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, the National Band Association, and the Florida Bandmaster’s Association Phi Beta Mu.
He has served in several capacities for the FBA, including clinician and adjudicator. Mr. Bottomley is currently chairman of the Concert Music Committee which meets annually to review new band literature. He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor and clinician throughout Florida. Awarded the Oliver Hobbs award in 2005 for exceptional consistent band leadership, he remains an outstanding example for his students.
